G. Hegelund, 81 Shirley
G. Hegelund (nee Nell), 81, of West Bend, passed away Mon-day, June 30,
2008, at her home with her family at her side. She
was born on Nov. 12, 1926 in Milwaukee to the late Emil and Erna (nee
Jens) Nell, and graduated from Rufus King High School in the class of
1945. On
July 12, 1947, Shirley was united in marriage to Jacques Hegelund at
Plymouth Congre-gational Church in Milwaukee. Together
they lived in New Berlin and Glendale until moving to West Bend in 1994.
While in the Milwaukee Area, Shirley worked in retail sales for
different department stores like Chapman’s, Bos-ton Store and Kohl’s. Shirley
was a member of the Fifth Ave. United Methodist Church, Order of the
Eastern Star in Glendale, Glendale Women’s Club, and Door County Girls.
She had been a volunteer at the Washington County Histori-cal Society.
Shirley enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family. She
is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jacques; two children, Clyde
(Barbara) Hegelund of Osage Beach, Mo. and Joan (Walter) Teague of West
Bend; a granddaughter, Jennifer Dixon of West Bend; a brother, Elroy
“Bud” (Mary Jane) Nell of Milwaukee; two nephews, Marvin (Maddie)
Goetter, and Tom (Jeanie) Goetter, both of Waukesha, other relatives and
many friends. Funeral
services in remembrance of Shirley will be held on Thursday, July 3 at 7
p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. The Rev. Janis Best
will officiate. Visitation
will be Thursday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of
service. Cremation will follow at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation
Service and burial of Shirley’s cremated remains will be in Wisconsin
Memorial Park, Brookfield. Memorials to the American Cancer Society or Hartland Home Health Care and Hospice are appreciated.
